new To build or not to destroy Lenana!!
A lot has been said about the Lenana land crisis which pits the school on one side and the local MP on another.
To fully understand the origin of the ‘dispute’ one must look at its origin.

The school land is under siege!!
The area MP is trying to get the Ministry to hive off 40 acres of the school land to construct a training and vocational centre!
If successful, all the land on the wrong side of the barrier encompassing the volleyball pitches (Banks & Braces) and a good bit of the forest near Block 3 would all go.

It's that time of the year again for the annual Old Boys Six-a-side soccer tournament to raise funds for the rehabilitation of the School's facilities. To be held on Saturday 30 th Sept 2006 at the school grounds from 8.30am to 4.00pm .

Lenana/ Duke of York Old Boys Meeting

October 9, 2007 9:17 AM

Gentlemen,
Please note that there will be a meeting on Wednesday, 10th October 2007 at 2.30 pm at the Lenana School Hall.

Top of the agenda will be the land saga which has just resurfaced, as well as notice for the AGM slated for November 2007.

For those not in the loop, the area MP in cahoots with some people at the Ministry of Education has been trying to get some acreage of Lenana (roughly 50 acres) hived off ostensibly to build another ‘school’ of some sort, a scheme we widely perceive within the realms of settling squatters in Dagoretti constituency. The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry has now written to JICA and Lions International inviting the two organizations earlier penciled for project funding, to proceed with their 'planned' developments on Lenana School land.

The Lenana School title deed clearly states that any (proposed) subdivision of the school's land must be done with the written consent of the country's Chief Executive, i.e. The President; we highly doubt if this consent has been given as the Board of Governors has received no such document. We had made some noise late last year to deter this plot, but clearly from the recent machinations from these politically correct folks, more needs to be done.

Please mark the date, time and venue on your calendars/blackberries/PDAs, and plan to be there. Kindly forward this to as many Old Boys as possible.

Regards,
Paul Angatia
